What the Daytime Trauma Center treats
For fractures and injuries from accidents or falls, and for sprains, tears and dislocations from sport, we provide fast imaging and precise findings.
Fractures
X-ray and CT establish exactly where the bone broke and how far it has moved; from there we decide between conservative care and surgery.

Ultrasound or MRI establishes how badly the ligament is damaged and whether it has torn; from there we choose between non-surgical care (immobilisation) and surgery (ligament repair or reconstruction).

Daytime Trauma Center FAQ
- Can I be seen on a Sunday?
- Yes. The Daytime Trauma Center at Nowon Samsung Orthopedics is open on Sundays, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. You can come in for a sudden fracture or injury that needs attention.
- Which tests are done if a fracture or injury is suspected?
- Depending on the site and the symptoms, we may use X-ray, CT, ultrasound or MRI. The findings tell us how severe the damage is, and we choose the treatment that fits the patient's condition.
- If a fracture is confirmed, does it mean surgery straight away?
- Not every fracture needs surgery. We look at where the break is, how far the bone has shifted and the overall state of the injury, then decide between non-surgical care such as a splint or cast and surgical treatment.
- If surgery is needed, can it be done at the Daytime Trauma Center?
- Yes. Once the fracture or injury has been assessed, surgery can be carried out here if it is needed. For a sudden injury, testing, diagnosis, planning and surgery all run without a hand-off elsewhere.
- I was told elsewhere that I need surgery. Can I still be seen at the Daytime Trauma Center?
- Yes. We also see fractures and injuries already diagnosed at another institution. We go through your earlier test results and imaging with you and discuss the treatment that suits the injury as it stands now. Where surgery is needed, we explain whether it can be done here and what the plan would look like.
